Third-Party Processors

What is a third-party merchant service?

If you're starting a new online business, third party credit processors are a strong option you should consider. By going through the third party merchant servicess, you'll need less paperwork, and it is easier to get started with credit card processing.

Third party merchant services are a company that can accept credit card orders on behalf of you or your company. This makes obtaining a merchant account for your company unnecessary, although it could be worthwhile if you sell enough goods to warrant the expense involved.

Third party merchant services own merchant accounts with the additional rights to use that merchant account to accept credit card orders on behalf of other companies. They take care of the entire purchasing process. This includes shopping cart, credit card authorization, customer service and billing inquiries. When customers are ready to buy, they click on a link on your site and are taken to a secure order form on the third-party server. You are notified, usually by e-mail, that a transaction has been processed. Your only responsibility is to ship the order. Some processors handle returns.

Because they manage all aspects of transaction processing, third-party processors allow small-business owners to save money on administration and customer service. You don't need to manually verify transactions or respond to billing questions.

The main advantages of using a"Third Party Service" are that

  • You don't have to buy or lease hardware and software,
  • You don't have hefty setup costs,
  • You don't have to wait for getting approved,
  • You simply link your products to the validation service who then accepts credit card payment on your behalf. They check the card, process the card and send you a monthly payment for the amount you are owed.
